About Your Michigan Fly Fishing Guide

Born in 1988, Jacob Shellenbarger, (Jake). Originally from Ionia, Michigan, Jake has spent a lifetime on rivers like the Muskegon, Pere Marquette, Big Manistee, and Grand Rivers. When Jake was a youngster, he had the privilege of learning fly fishing techniques from two of the greatest fly fisherman of our time. He has honed his steelhead fishing techniques, forming Jake into the master fly fisherman he is today! As I would say, “This kid is a stick!

Jake has spent countless hours refining fly fishing techniques, designing trout flies, jigs, and custom painting steelhead beads. He is especially gifted at custom painting trout beads and jigs. He also has some outstanding bait recipes for trophy Brown Trout on the Muskegon River, and Manistee. He has also designed several epic trout patterns for winter steelhead fishing below Tippy and Croton Dam, in Michigan.
